We understand you are eager for a location in NE Rochester. As you recall in our most recent update, we shared that we would be selling the current property. Over the past several months, we have been working closely with a potential buyer for our 37th Street location. However, the sale did not proceed as planned.
After carefully re-evaluating our options, we have made an important decision regarding the future of the 37th Street branch. The credit union will no longer be selling the entire property. Instead, we plan to demolish the existing building as it is a total loss, sell a portion of the property for development, and retain the remaining portion of the land for rebuilding a new branch on the same site. We believe parceling out the property and rebuilding on the current site will expedite a branch re-opening, while still allowing us to mitigate financial losses due the high costs of demolishing the current building and rebuilding a new branch.
We are excited about this new direction, which will allow us to continue serving you at a familiar location with an enhanced facility that meets the growing needs of our members. The tentative reopening date for the new branch is Summer 2026.
We understand that you may have questions about this change, and we are committed to keeping you informed throughout this process. As additional details become available, we will share them with you.
In the meantime, we encourage you to continue using our other Rochester locations at 501 16th Street SE (near the Olmsted County Fairgrounds) and 2483 Commerce Drive NW (near Costco).
