First Alliance Credit Union

May 13, 2026
Brent Rempe, President and CEO of First Alliance Credit Union, has been recognized as the 2026 Outstanding Credit Union Professional of the Year by Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN). The award was presented during the MnCUN ACCELERATE ‘26 Conference on April 28 at the Mystic Lake Center.
The Outstanding Professional of the Year award honors individuals who exemplify the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” through leadership, service, and a commitment to advancing financial well-being.
“MnCUN is pleased to honor Brent Rempe for his contributions to the Minnesota credit union movement and his exceptional leadership,” said Mara Humphrey, President/CEO of MnCUN.
Under Rempe’s leadership, First Alliance Credit Union has expanded access to financial services and deepened its commitment to community-centered financial empowerment. The organization recently increased its field of membership from five to fourteen counties across Southeast Minnesota and introduced a full-service mobile branch to bring personalized financial guidance directly into underserved and rural communities.
“This recognition reflects the work of our entire team and the trust our members place in us,” Rempe said. “We’re focused on showing up for people in meaningful ways and continuing to improve how financial services fit into everyday life.”
First Alliance’s approach is rooted in its history. Founded in 1932 during the Great Depression by a group of local community members including a schoolteacher and seven firefighters seeking to support one another, the credit union continues to prioritize keeping money local by supporting families, businesses, and long-term community strength.
That mission extends beyond external service and into organizational culture. Initiatives like All-Staff Training Day emphasize empathy and community impact, helping employees better understand the financial challenges members face and strengthening service through compassion.
Jane Drennan, Chair of the First Alliance Credit Union Board of Directors, emphasized the team-driven approach to service and impact. “This honor reflects the commitment of many people working together to serve our members well. It speaks to the collective effort of our team and our shared focus on our mission.”
